Welcome to Old School Sailing

We offer RYA Training Courses and Skippered Charters with a personal touch. Based in Plymouth, our courses and charters, on board an extremely comfortable 37' yacht,  take in the spectacular coastlines of Devon and Cornwall, plus the Channel Islands and North France when time and weather conditions permit,  taking in many beautiful ports, harbours and anchorages.

RYA Courses This Summer

Get sailing this year with one of our RYA Practical Courses. Whether you are a complete beginner, an aspiring Yachtmaster or somewhere between, we offer courses to suit your needs.

Skippered Charters

If you just want to get out on the water, then join one of our Skippered Charters. We will tailor make a package that's right for you and can cater either for groups of up to 5 persons, or for individuals. A  seven day skippered charter to France and back may be just the sort of get-away-from-it-all break you need this summer. It is possible to combine RYA practical courses with a skippered charter if required.

Why Old School?

Whilst Old School Sailing embraces modern technology and fully recognises the value of electronic aids to navigation and safety, we believe in maintaining traditional skills alongside recent innovations and run our courses and vessels in accordance with maritime standards which have been in place for centuries. Trainees are taught at a pace which suits their ability and are assured of excellent tuition from highly experienced instructors. Moreover we believe that sailing is to be enjoyed and that people should have fun when enjoying the freedom of the seas.
